以前にも香港での床物件をご紹介し、日本とは違う市場があることをご紹介しましたが、今回、関西ペイント社の材料による床改修工事物件が決定し、現在施工が最盛期を迎えています。面積は5,200㎡で、ノンスリップ・タイプのエポキシ床です。お客様の情報を余り開示することができませんが、物件は大きな工場の内部床で、試験施工を経て我々の材料を選んで頂きました。実は今回の工事は第一期で、この工事が上手くいけば、7,000㎡の追加工事が決定することになります。

本社からもお客様へのご挨拶と施工の確認も兼ねて国際事業部の岡崎氏にも来てもらっています。香港では駐車場床をはじめとして、いわゆる塗り床の大きな市場が厳然として存在しますが、日本ではこの塗り床市場は余り積極的に展開を図られている市場ではありません。我々の意図としましては、香港市場のみならず、この塗り床の市場を日本でも再確認し、逆輸入と言う形で再上陸させたいのです。

なぜなら我々は国際社会で塗料に携わるお仕事をさせて頂いていますが、決して世界の標準が日本の標準ではありませんし、逆もまた真なりです。海外の市場に日本の優れた製品/仕様をご紹介することも我々の責務ですが、それと同様に海外で使われている製品/仕様の可能性を、日本を含めた他の国々へ横展開させていくことも、世界で戦うリーディング・メーカーに課せられた使命だと思います。

またこの工場では工業系塗料の需要もあり、建築ばかりではなく我々関西ペイントの得意とする重防食や非鉄金属への塗装も可能性があります。そしてそのためには、現下の物件をしっかりと仕上げ、お客様の満足を量ることが重要な点であることは言うに及びません。

Previously, we have introduced to you the potentiality of floor coating projects in Hong Kong, which may be a bit different from Japan due to varying demand. We are going to add one more large scale floor project in our list, with 5,200 sqm of application area. Not only that, 7,000 sqm more flooring works may be assigned by the same owner upon project completion, when the result has been proven to be satisfactory. This very 7,000 sqm shall be planned and executed in Phase 2, having the same specification – Epoxy Non-slip Floor Coating System.

Kansai Paint representative from Japan, Mr. Okazaki, also visited this site to greet the owner at the site inspection. The reason why we are so keen for this project is that, we feel there is a great chance for our floor coating systems to be popularized in this unique market, which we were not familiar with before. Indeed, we seldom see floor coating projects in Japan, yet it is considered a worthwhile possibility. Being a leading manufacturer from Japan, we have to take the initiative and be aggressive enough to cultivate the market as a business pioneer. Our intention is to reaffirm the market that our floor coating is a promising product, and that a reverse importation to Japan may be necessary upon market review.

Meanwhile, this factory may create a favorable occasion for us to develop other aspects of our business segments – industrial paint which includes anti-corrosion paint, since non-ferrous metals are commonly found in factories in their daily operation. We are seeking for the chance to penetrate into these field of paint industry as well.
